The Nissin Foods Group is engaged in numerous activities that contribute to society, such as the creation of new food products, the promotion of sports, and the provision of aid to disaster victims. These activities are based on the four spirits of our founder, Momofuku Ando, namely, "People can only be content when there is enough food," "Creating foods to serve society," "Eat wisely for beauty and health" and "Food-related jobs are a sacred profession," as well as the principle that "Eating and sports are the two axles of health."

The Nissin Foods Group is conducting the "Hyakufukushi Project", a fifty-year project that started in 2008, the fiftieth anniversary of the Group's founding. Through this initiative, the Group will undertake 100 social contribution activities, carrying out the aspirations of founder Momofuku Ando, who enthusiastically engaged in social contribution activities.
What we have done this year

In this cooking contest, fathers and their children collaborate to create original recipes using instant noodles. "Ikumen" ("nurturing with noodles") is a term we have created for fathers who want to enjoy bringing up their children with the familiar item of instant noodles, creating a deeper bond with their children by preparing food together.

Since the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the ratio of food stockpiled has been increasing, so we developed canned versions of Chicken Ramen and CUPNOODLES that can be stored for up to three years. We donated a total of 50,000 units of CUPNOODLES Cans to three local governments: Yokohama City and Shinjuku Ward, which could be especially vulnerable to an earthquake that occurs directly under the Tokyo metropolitan area, and Ikeda City, the birthplace of instant noodles in Osaka.

This project invites the children of Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, which were devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake, to the "CUPNOODLES MUSEUM." They can have fun while learning about Momofuku Ando's spirit of never giving up and the importance of inventions and discoveries. This helps foster spirit and energy in the children so they can live their lives to the full as their regions recover.

Based on founder Momofuku Ando's principle of "Eating and sports are the two axles of health," the Nissin Foods Group is involved in a wide range of undertakings to support sports activities.
We are sponsoring the "Nissin Foods Cup" National Elementary School Children's Track and Field Competition and the "Nissin Foods Cup" National Elementary School Children's Cross Country Relay Training Meet in order to support children's athletic activities. In addition, we are providing special support for the National Inter-company Ladies Golf Tournament, to encourage more women to take up golf.

Immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, the Nissin Foods Group conducted activities to aid the victims, including providing two million instant noodle meals free of charge and sending seven mobile kitchens equipped with hot water facilities. We are also in the process of creating a system that can respond swiftly in times of emergency through steps like forming agreements with various local governments to provide support activities.

In order to convey to next-generation children Momofuku Ando's philosophy that "The most important thing for humanity is creativity; inventions and discoveries have changed history," the Nissin Foods Group is running two experiential museums, the Instant Ramen Museum in Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture, and the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
In addition, through food education activities, such as the "Chicken Ramen Oishii Food Education School" for elementary school students and the "Food Education Kindergarten Caravan" for young children, we are imparting proper dietary knowledge to children.
